Your doctor will need to monitor you to check that your treatment is working. Shortly after you start treatment, you will be asked to have a blood test to check that it's starting to have a beneficial effect. You will then need another blood test after about 8wks to confirm that your haemoglobin and red blood cell levels have returned to normal.
