If you have filariasis, it can be spread from you to uninfected persons by mosquitoes. Adult worms live in your lymph vessels. The females release large numbers of tiny larvae into your blood. When a mosquito bites you, it can swallow the larvae. These develop in the mosquito and can then be spread to other people through bites. After a bite, the larvae pass through the person's skin, travel to the vessels(lymph) and develop into adults, which live about 7yrs. Then the cycle begins again.
