Your parathyroid glands are 4 small glands attached to your thyroid gland, at the base of your neck. They are endocrine glands, meaning that they secrete hormones into your bloodstream. Your parathyroid glands make and secrete a hormone called parathyroid hormone. Parathyroid hormone controls the level of calcium in your blood.
