There are 2 main types of uterine (womb) cancer. Endometrial cancer and uterine sarcoma. Endometrial cancer is the most common type. It starts in the endometrial lining of the womb and often is diagnosed early in its development and treatment is usually successful. Uterine sarcoma, the second type of womb cancer, develops in the muscle wall of the womb. It's a less common type of womb cancer and it's harder to treat.
