The treatment of leishmaniasis has long been pentavalent antimonials, which contain antimony. Now there's another drug Amphotericin(AmBisome) which has been effective. It didn't work in some cases of visceral leishmaniasis in Sudan, but that was because the patients had other infections, eg HIV or tuberculosis.
