Hydroceles in babies usually disappear on their own within a year; they are only removed if they stay and enlarge. In male adults, a hydrocele often goes away on its own and needs treatment only if it enlarges to cause discomfort or disfigurement. Treatment may be:surgical excision or hydrocelectomy(removal of a hydrocele) and needle aspiration where fluid in the scrotum is removed with a needle. It should be done in hospital by a trained surgeon, but it may return.
