1. Safety first! Get away from the snake.
2. Call for help immediately! Delaying care may result in worsening of the tissue injury.
3. Always keep the site of the bite below the level of the heart.
4. Wash the area with warm water and soap.
5. Remove any constricting clothing or jewellery from the arm/leg that has been bitten. If swelling occurs the constricting items will cause tissue injury.
6. Follow the basics of first aid while waiting for responders to arrive. Be especially concerned about the potential for shock.

Note:
1. NO CUTTING & SUCKING! Cutting into the wound may introduce infections.
2. Be cautious by wearing long pants and boots taller than the ankle; Avoid deep, dark crevices and do not approach snakes, avoid them.
