Inflammation of the cervix may be caused by infection from sexually transmitted diseases(STDs) such as; Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, genital herpes, genital warts and trichomoniasis, or by injury of the cervix from a foreign object inserted in the vagina, allergic reactions either to spermicides or latex in condoms and an overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina(bacterial vaginosis) and bacteria like staphylococcus and streptococcus that normally donĀ“t affect the cervix.
