Some people are more likely to have palpitations, people who have; anxiety, panic attacks, highly stressed, take certain medicines or stimulants, have an overactive thyroid, irregular heartbeats, a previous heart attack, heart failure, heart valve problems or heart muscle problems, pregnant or menstruating women or those in menopause. Palpitations that occur during pregnancy may be due to anemia. A person with palpitations needs to seek diagnosis from the nearest health unit for proper management.
