You will start to get symptoms around 10-21days after you catch the virus. The 1st symptoms include:headache, fever, sore throat, backache, feeling generally unwell. You may have these symptoms for a few days before you get any spots. Chickenpox spots are usually very itchy and usually come on your face and scalp first, then may spread to your chest, arms and legs. You may also get spots inside your mouth and nose. The spots are fluid-filled blisters that may become pustules (blisters containing pus). They will then crust over to form scabs and usually take around 16 days to heal completely. Chickenpox is usually worse in adults than children. Adults are more likely to have complications and be left with rounded, hollowed-out scars on the skin, called 'pockmarks'.
