Increase in age causes the vaginal skin to be light, not well lubricated and so may increase the risk of bleeding with intercourse. Infections of the vagina, eg thrush, leave the vagina vulnerable to bleeding after any trauma. Changes that occur to the cervix as cancer develops put one at risk of contact bleeding.
