Trigger point massage focuses on trigger points, or sensitive areas of tight muscle fibres that can form in the muscles after injuries or overuse. It involves applying pressure to the tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body. A trigger point is an irritable spot that is painful. Its called so because it "triggers" a painful response and most common causes of trigger points are; birth trauma, an injury from a fall or accident and poor posture.
