Arrhythmia also known as dysrhythmia occurs when the electrical impulses in the heart that coordinate the heartbeats don't function properly, causing the heart to beat too fast, too slow or irregularly. Heart arrhythmias are common and usually harmless but some can be serious and life threatening. When the heart rate is too fast, too slow or irregular, the heart may not pump enough blood to the body and can damage the brain, heart and other organs. Arrhythmias have to be treated by a specialist physician.
