Orchitis may cause infertility. Other complications include; testicular atrophy(where orchitis eventually causes the affected testicle to shrink), scrotal abscess(where infected tissue fills with pus), orchitis can lead to recurrent episodes of epididymitis. Acute pain in the scrotum or testicles can be a surgical emergency therefore its important to get immediate medical attention from the nearest health unit when one gets any swelling of the testes.
