A surgical procedure done to remove kidney stones. When the kidney stones have been detected a pencil-thin tube is inserted in the urethra and used to transmit shock waves directly to the stones and break them into pieces. Once done, a device like a bowl cage is used to remove the particles and a tube connected to the kidney to aid in faster drainage of the remaining particles.
