There is no specific test for vocal cord polyps-it is usually diagnosed by observation of the vocal cords. A laryngoscope will be used by your doctor for this purpose. The strength of the muscles might also be checked by your doctor using a procedure called electromyography to check if they are affected. This is not done routinely.
