With the heart not working properly, heart failure(the heart is unable to pump blood to tissues around the body) may develop. Also, the scarred inner lining of the heart easily gets infected and these infections of the heart are hard to treat and could be fatal. The rhythm of heartbeats can also be lost when the heart is scarred.
