Allergic rhinitis is diagnosed by your doctor based on your symptoms and a nose, throat and ear examination. The doctor's examination will also help rule out complications of your condition. Your doctor may perform a skin test to try and identify the allergen. Sometimes an individual may be allergic to multiple allergens. Blood samples may also be tested for antibodies using specialized tests.
