To diagnose chronic sinusitis, your doctor will ask about your symptoms(as there are cardinal features of this condition), examine you(esp your ear, nose and throat) and then ask for tests. These include images of your nasal passages and taking samples to check what bacteria are growing deep in your nose. Allergy testing may also be done.
