To make a diagnosis, your doctor will take your medical history, perform a physical exam and order some tests. S/he may order an ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder and x-rays to rule out kidney stones. In some cases, a CT scan may be needed. In older patients, cystoscopy with biopsy of suspected lesions is often done.
