Your doctor will schedule regular follow-up visits with you to monitor your progress with rheumatic valvular heart disease. You will be advised on what medication to take and when to come back to hospital when you feel worse. You may also be put under the care of a specialist heart doctor(cardiologist) who, along with a cardiac surgeon, will decide on when surgery is necessary.
