If you have symptoms of obstructive uropathy, see your doctor, who will take your medical history, do a physical examination and perform certain tests, eg insertion of urinary catheter if the obstruction is further down or a bladder catheter. You may have scans to check the flow of urine, eg ultrasonography, CT scan, cystourethroscopy(using a scope to visualize the bladder and ureters) or pyelography (an x-ray to visualize the kidneys).
