Your doctor will prescribe treatment to relieve the symptoms, prevent complications and delay progressive kidney damage in nephrotic syndrome. Your doctor will discuss the duration of treatment but it may be needed for life. Medications may include blood pressure control medicines, corticosteroids and other drugs that suppress the immune system, lipid lowering medicines or blood thinners. You will also need to adjust your diet to reduce salt intake and have low protein meals. You may need vitamin D replacement if your condition becomes chronic.
