Acute and subacute endocarditis can cause damage to your heart causing the heart to be unable to pump blood as it should leading to heart failure. The germs in the heart's lining can also go to other organs causing infection in them. Another possible complication is stroke- a small lump of germs gets dislodged and reaches the brain.
