Pyelonephritis gives you pain during urination, abdominal pain(sometimes extending to the back on the affected side) and tenderness around the bladder. You may also have fever, rigors(violent shivering with rising temperature), headache and vomiting. In severe cases, mental clouding may be present and sepsis may follow. A systemic response to the infection develops characterized by fever, a raised heart rate, rapid breathing and decreased blood pressure(occasionally leading to septic shock).
