If you have adhesion-related pain, your doctor may prescribe you painkillers to take. Bowel obstructions usually clear by themselves with time. However, you may need to be admitted to hospital for treatment and so your doctor can monitor you until your bowel obstruction clears. This will usually be for at least 2-3 days.
