Disseminated strongyloidiasis is a major complication that occurs when persons with long-standing(chronic) strongyloidiasis have their immune system suppressed by diseases, eg HIV or steroid therapy in organ transplant. You may have abdominal pain, shock, lung and brain complications and contamination of your blood and it may lead to death.
