JIA affects all children differently. Symptoms may come and go over time with periods when they flare up and are worse. There may be times when your child has no symptoms at all-this is called remission. The main symptoms of JIA are swollen, painful and stiff joints. The joint areas may look red and feel hot when you touch them. The exact symptoms and number of joints affected will vary depending on which type of JIA your child has.
