Your baby will need an operation called a pyloromyotomy. A surgeon will split your baby's pylorus muscle and spread it open. (The pylorus muscle is at the end of the stomach and controls food movement into the small intestines). This allows the pylorus to widen and allow milk through. The operation is carried out under general anaesthetic-your baby will be asleep during the operation and will feel no pain. The operation takes about 30min. After the operation your baby will probably have to stay in hospital for a few days. You can take your baby home once s/he is feeding well and putting on weight. S/he is likely to make a full recovery and have no further problems.
