You may confuse piedra with lice infestation or other diseases. It is important that you know that other infections can coexist with piedra, e. g ringworm or yeast (candida) infections and bacterial skin infection characterized by reddish brown, slightly raised patches, especially in the armpits and groin (erythrasma). Your doctor will conduct tests to differentiate them.
