There's no single test that can check for osteoarthritis, so your doctor will ask about your symptoms and examine you and may also ask about your medical history. Your doctor will look for bony outgrowths, swelling, creaking, instability and reduced movement of your joint and ask if the joint is stiff for longer than 30mins in the morning.
