Blood tests are the main tests for human cytomegalovirus disease. Usually your blood will show a relatively increased presence of lymphocytes. It is the most common cause of infection if you recently had a solid organ or bone marrow transplant. Liver tests may show some mild liver function abnormalities, but severe hepatitis or jaundice is rare.
