You can make a spot diagnosis of the pinworms at home, when enterobiasis is suspected, by examining around your child's anal area, particularly at night when the worm tend to lay their eggs. Your doctor may have your child undertake a 'tape test', where a piece of cellophane tape is stuck on the skin around the anus and later removed, preferably in the morning. Your doctor will examine the tape for pinworm eggs under a microscope.
