Family planning methods that contain hormones including pills, injections and implants can make some women's blood pressure increase. You need to be checked by a health worker before using those methods. They are not recommended if you have high blood pressure already. Other family planning methods such as intra uterine device (IUD), condoms, tubal ligation and vasectomy do not cause high blood pressure. Check your pressure regularly even when you are not using family planning.
