Septrin is also known as cotrimoxazole is an antibiotic used to prevent and treat opportunistic infections in people with HIV/AIDS. People living with HIV/AIDS take Septrin on a daily basis as a form of prophylaxis. If you are taking Septrin and become pregnant, you must stop taking it for the first 3 months of pregnancy as it can affect the baby. After the first trimester you can begin taking Septrin again. Seek advice from a health worker for proper care and treatment of HIV/AIDS during pregnancy.
