Your baby at week one - Umbilical cord
Clean your baby's umbilical cord with alcohol soaked cotton buds three times a day to avoid infections. An infected cord is usually wet, may have pus and smell fishy. Your health care provider can show you how to clean your baby's cord before you leave the hospital. In about a month's time, the stump will dry up and drop off.
