Edema in pregnancy - Diet

Minimize sodium (salt) intake and avoid adding additional salt to meals. Avoid foods and snacks that contain lots of salt. Minimize caffeine intake. Eat a diet rich in potassium to help reduce the swelling. Sources of potassium include bananas, avocado, grapefruit, cucumber and turmeric. Your health care provider can help you come up with an appropriate diet for you.
