Definition
Premature ejaculation (PE) is defined as ejaculation that occurs too soon after sexual stimulation or before a man is ready to do so. Medical literature defines PE as ejaculation within 2 minutes of penetration occurring in more than half of sexual encounters. It is important to note however that this may not be distressing to the individual and hence not be reported as a problem. It is a common problem in men and may affect 1 in every 5 men in their lifetime. Most of these men do not have an underlying problem.
