Complementary feeding - Working mums

Working mothers need not stop breastfeeding when going back to work. It is still possible to provide nutrition to your baby as you work. Continue to breastfeed as often as possible, including at night. Arrange to have a responsible care giver way before the day you are due to go back to work. Express breast milk and instruct the caregiver to feed by cup. If expressed breast milk is put into a clean covered container, it can be kept for 8 hours in a cool place even when there is no refrigerator. When in the refrigerator, expressed breast milk can stay for up to six months in the freezer and for 24 hours in the refrigerator. Instruct your caregiver how to feed your child with complementary foods, how often and how much. Ensure your caregiver only uses a small cup or spoon to feed complementary foods to the child, never a feeding bottle. Teach your caregiver how to keep food safe and clean.
