Complementary feeding - Finger food

If your baby is holding things and putting them in their mouth, then they are ready for finger food. Any food that your baby can pick up easily from a plate and put in the mouth makes good finger food. In addition to learning how to chew, finger food give your baby a sense of independence. As your baby enjoys feeding himself using his hands, get ready to clean up after him. Pieces of fruits and vegetables make perfect finger foods. Your health care provider can help you identify some locally available nutritious snacks to give to your baby.
