Falls in toddlers - Prevention

Toddlers fall many times as they learn to walk and as they explore their world. Ensure a clear area all round. Remove cords, rugs and other hazardous items that can cause them to trip and fall. Pad sharp edges of tables and other items and keep them where children are unlikely to fall on them. Avoid baby walkers. Keep floors dry and wipe off spills immediately. If a child drinks while on the move, he or she is more likely to spill. Raise the safety rails of the cot whenever the child is in the cot unattended.
