Diarrhoea in children - Causes

Infection from germs such as bacteria, viruses and parasites is one of the most common causes of diarrhoea. These germs can be found in the stool of an infected person. When a healthy person eats contaminated food or drinks contaminated water they may become infected. When food is prepared by a person with contaminated hands, the food may get contaminated spreading the germs to its consumers. Contaminated water can contaminate food during irrigation. Fish and seafood from polluted water may also cause diarrhoea. The spread of diarrhoea is made worse by poor personal hygiene.
