Pneumonia in children - Prevention

Wash your child's hands often with soap and water. It is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of infections. Reduce indoor air pollution. There is a vaccine available against pneumonia. Having your child immunized against pneumonia, Hib, measles and whooping cough plays a major role in the prevention of pneumonia. Talk to your health care provider for advice on when to get vaccinated. Boost your child's immunity through breastfeeding and good nutrition. This will not only reduce the incidences of infection but will also reduce the duration of illness should they get infected. People with pneumonia should limit face-to-face contact with uninfected family and friends.
