Fever - Symptoms

Although fever is itself a symptom of an illness, it can cause recognizable signs and symptoms in a child. If your child has a fever they may have reduced activity, poor appetite, difficulty sleeping, irritability, chills, shivering, sweating and even a headache. You may also notice that their heart rate is higher than normal and that they breathe faster than usual. Fever may also cause dehydration in children. Some children with fever hallucinate. If your child has a fever, take them to the nearest health facility for further assessment by a qualified health care provider.
