Complementary feeding - Snacks

Your baby's energy requirements increase as they grow and become more active. Providing snacks in between the meals will provide the extra energy needed and give you a chance to give your child extra food. Snacks are easy to prepare and can be given in between meals. A good snack provides both energy and nutrients to your baby. Examples of good snacks are fruits such as mashed ripe banana, paw-paw, avocado, mango and other fruits. Yogurt, pudding, pancakes, biscuits, bread with margarine, peanut butter or honey also make good snacks. Your health care provider can help you identify other nutritious snacks available within your area.
