Vaccines - Chickenpox vaccine

The chickenpox vaccine is given to prevent chickenpox (varicella). Most of the children who get the chickenpox vaccine will not get chickenpox. Those who get it, have a mild infection and recover more rapidly than the children who have not had the vaccine. The chicken pox vaccine is given in two doses. The first dose should be given at the age of 12-18 months and the second at the age of 4-6 years.
