Malaria in children - The life cycle of a mosquito

The female Anopheles mosquito lays its eggs on the surface of fresh water such as puddles, rice fields and hoof prints. Most eggs hatch into larvae within 48 hours. The larvae live in water where they develop and later it change into a pupa. The pupa undergoes a resting stage where it grows until it hatches into an adult mosquito. This mosquito is the one that feeds on blood and transmits malaria.
