Diarrhoea in children - Medical treatment

Most cases of diarrhoea do not require antibiotics. However, your health care provider may give your child antibiotics depending on the cause of diarrhoea. Other drugs such as zinc are given to reduce the severity of diarrhoea and to reduce frequency of future incidents. Giving your child a nutrient-rich diet during and after the diarrhoeal episode will keep your child strong and reduce future incidences. Your health care provider can help you identify nutritious foods found within your area.
