Pneumonia in children - Diagnosis
In order to diagnose pneumonia, the health care provider takes a full medical history of your child looking for the signs and symptoms of pneumonia. The health care provider also performs a chest examination that involves listening to the child's breathing. In some cases, an X-ray of the child's chest may be necessary.
