Antenatal clinics - First visit

Ideally, the first antenatal visit should occur in the first three months of pregnancy. Most women will wait until the pregnancy is obvious before they visit a clinic. During this visit, a detailed history will usually be obtained especially regarding prior pregnancies and any relevant medical or family history. Your health care provider will examine you and ask for some blood tests. You may also be asked to have an ultrasound scan of your baby. This is particularly important because it gives the most accurate dating for your pregnancy.
